Airlines that fly from Glasgow to Philadelphia

American Airlines offer seasonal flights direct from Glasgow International Airport to Philadelphia. There are no direct flights from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Terminal Information – Departing

This is only a guideline. Always check your boarding pass for up-to-date terminal information.

The second busiest airport in Scotland, Glasgow Airport has a large departure hall with lots of places to eat and shop. You can pick up some in-flight reading at WH Smith, some holiday outfits at The Fashion Place, or a nice gift at Swarovski. If you're in need of a bite to eat you can choose from fast food options like Starbucks, Upper Crust and Fresh Food Central. There are two pubs: the Tennent's Pier Bar and the Caledonia Bar & Restaurant. For extra luxury, you can check into the UpperDeck Lounge for £20* per adult. The airport offers one hour of free Wi-Fi to each customer, after which you can pay for extra access (£5* for three hours, £9* for 24 hours).

Terminal Information – Arriving

There are four ways to get into the city from Philadelphia International Airport:

Practical Information

Your passport needs to be valid for the full length of your stay in the USA. You'll also need prior authorisation: either a visa, a Permanent Resident Card, or through the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). The VWP allows eligible British citizens to visit the USA for up to 90 days. This is only available to passport holders who are described on their passport as British Citizens, and for people who have electric passports (with the chip symbol on the cover). You need to receive your authorisation at least 72 hours before you plan to travel, and you should also be able to show that you have enough money to support yourself once you arrive. The VWP isn't available to some people, for example those who have a criminal record or are dual nationals of certain Middle Eastern Countries. If in doubt, speak to the US consulate.

As this is an intercontinental flight, we recommend arriving at Glasgow Airport at least 2.5 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.

Philadelphia is five hours behind Glasgow and the currency is the US dollar ($). The climate in Philadelphia is a lot more extreme than Glasgow's. Summers are scorching hot, with average temperatures of 22-26°C from June to September. Highs of 29-31°C are common from June to August. Winters are bitterly cold by contrast, with temperatures sitting at 2-4°C from December to February: often dropping as cold as -3°C. Spring is the best time to visit, when temperatures are pleasant and the summer crowds haven't yet arrived.
