London Heathrow Airport
You should arrive at Heathrow Airport at least three hours before your flight to Norfolk is scheduled to depart. There are four terminals at Heathrow Airport and flights to Norfolk depart from each, depending on your airline. United flights depart from Terminal 2, American Airlines depart from Terminal 3, Delta departs from Terminal 4 and British Airways depart from their exclusive terminal, Terminal 5.

Norfolk International Airport
Norfolk International Airport is located 3 miles northeast of Norfolk’s city centre in Virginia. There is one Arrivals Terminal at Norfolk Airport which is located in a separate building from the main terminal. In the Arrivals Terminal you will find ATMs, information points, desks for onward travel options and car rental desks. Car rental companies located here include Avis, Hertz, National, Thrifty and a few hours. Booking in advance is recommended.
Shuttle buses are operated by James River Transportation and run from the airport, outside of the arrivals terminal and run to a number of destinations in Virginia including Norfolk, Southside Coastal Virginia, Virginia Beach and towns in the Virginia Peninsula. You will be able to book tickets and get information on routes from the James River Transportation website or the counter in the Arrivals Terminal.
There are plenty of taxis available from outside of the terminal. A fare from Norfolk Airport to Norfolk will be around $60 depending on your final destination, a taxi to Virginia Beach will be around $45-50.
What to Expect in Norfolk
Norfolk is known due to its links to the Navy and is home to the largest naval base in the world. The city has an active cultural and arts scene with a number of museums, festivals, theatres and operas.
