Terminal Information – Departing

Aberdeen Airport has one terminal. It's small but has everything you need before you fly. There's a small selection of shops. Airport favourites World Duty Free, WHSmith and Boots offer plenty of opportunities for window shopping and picking up last minute essentials. If you're hungry you'll find plenty of good options. Enjoy a quick coffee and a cake at Costa or some substantial pub grub at The Granite City by Wetherspoon. Alternatively you can visit Joe's Coffee House, The Globe or The Kitchen. If you're travelling on business and need to get a bit of last-minute work done, check into the Servisair Lounge. There's free Wi-Fi as well as complimentary snacks and drinks. It's also a good option if you want to escape from the general hustle and bustle of the departure lounge. Lounge access starts at £17* per adult if you pre-book.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Southampton Airport has one terminal. It's well connected to the city centre, both by public and private transport. The Southampton Airport Parkway Station is just a short walk away from the terminal building: less than 100 steps, to be precise. Trains take seven minutes to reach the city centre. Buses take about 35-40 minutes but are cheaper. The airport has a dedicated Car Hire Reception Centre. It's across from the terminal building, next to the multi-storey car park. Remember to compare car hire from Southampton Airport if you're planning a self-drive holiday. There's also a taxi rank outside the airport. You can pre-book your cab or just turn up on the day. Most taxi drivers will give you a quote before setting off.

Practical Information

Passports aren't required on domestic flights within the UK. You do need to bring photographic ID such as your driving license. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight is due to depart. Leave extra time if you're checking luggage into the hold or travelling during the school holidays.

What to expect in Southampton

Scottish banknotes are sometimes not accepted in England. Wait until you arrive at Southampton Airport before visiting the ATM. Weather is slightly more pleasant than Aberdeen, with an average summer temperature of 18°C and mild winter temperatures around 5°C.
