Leading global travel search site Skyscanner announces record growth in 2012. Skyscanner is now the fastest growing international travel search site with an 84% increase in traffic in 2012 and monthly visits to the site are now in excess of 30 million.
The company generated travel bookings for airline partners in excess of £2.3 billion in 2012. It has increased EBITDA by 153% to £12 million, and revenue by 65% to £33.5 million for the year ended 31 December 2012.
Skyscanner’s mobile apps have been downloaded over 12 million times and the iOS app rating, a key factor in travel search, is currently close to 5 stars. The site is now available in 40 countries and 30 languages.
Skyscanner has trebled the number of visitors to the site from Asia-Pacific in 2012, following the opening of offices in Singapore and Beijing. Asia now represents 18 per cent of overall traffic to the site. In August, Skyscanner opened an office in Beijing to drive continued growth across the region and signed a deal with China’s number one search engine, Baidu.
Skyscanner plans to replicate its Asian success across the Americas and is opening an office in Miami this year to underpin its ambitious growth plans for North and South America.
Skyscanner now employs over 180 staff from 35 nationalities across its four offices and will be recruiting another 100 employees over the next 12 months.

We’ve continued to build on our existing strengths and success across Europe to consolidate our position as the number one travel search site. We’ve also seen quite exceptional growth across Asia, following the opening of our offices in Singapore and, more recently, in Beijing. “

We are already experiencing rapid growth in North and South America led by growth of our mobile apps and the time is right to establish our Americas base. “The opening of our new office in Miami later this year, continuing product development and strategic partnerships, like the one we have established with Baidu, are high on the agenda this year as we continue to scale the business."
