Finnair ready to introduce flights to Tuscany

Finnair will launch new flights to Pisa from Helsinki from May 8th 2009, it has been confirmed.

The airline will fly to the Tuscan city on Tuesdays and Fridays during the summer season, with Finnair adopting a ‘one class’ policy on the route, meaning that there will be no separate business class.

Petteri Kostermaa, the carrier’s vice president of route strategy and traffic planning, said that Tuscany is among Italy’s "most popular holiday destinations".

"Now it can be reached directly from Helsinki," he said.

"It is expected the area will attract more of our passengers coming from Asia."

Pisa is Finnair’s fourth destination in Italy after the airline previously launched flights to Rome, Milan and Venice.

Tuscany, which is known for its art, architecture and cuisine, is also home to the cities of Florence, Siena, Lucca and Livorno.

Finnair’s second Airbus A330 entered service on its flights to Delhi on May 1st.
