Hotels in Puerto Princesa

The cleanest (and greenest) city in the Philippines, Puerto Princesa is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations in the country. It’s the capital of the island of Palawan, known for its wildlife reserves, beautiful beaches, and unique national parks. Hotels in Puerto Princesa make the perfect base for getting out and exploring. The city has an excellent food scene, too, so you’ll never go hungry.

There are lots of great places to stay in Puerto Princesa, whether you’re looking for a budget guesthouse in the city centre or a luxurious resort by the bay. There are plenty of hotels in the middle of the city, ideal for getting out doing some souvenir shopping by day and for discovering the laid back nightlife scene. If you’re not too fussed about hustle and bustle, you can find further hotels scattered throughout Palawan itself. These are perfect if you’re looking for a bit of rest and relaxation, away from the buzz of the city itself.

While Puerto Princesa has plenty of great restaurants, cafes, bars and shops to discover, the real attractions lie further afield. One of the biggest draws to Palawan is the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, the longest underground river in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You need a permit to visit the river, which can be arranged once you arrive in the city.

Puerto Princesa is definitely a great base for nature lovers, as there’s a great range of diverse attractions well within striking distance of the city. Divers will love a day trip to Honda Bay, which is great for snorkelling. It’s also a great place for island hopping, as the bay is peppered with tiny islets all boasting beautiful beaches. There’s a good range of companies offering island tours, with some hotels offering excursions too.

Animal lovers should pay a visit to the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Centre, which  is dedicated to researching crocodiles. The centre also has a small zoo which is home to some of the island’s local wildlife. The Butterfly Garden is nearby, and is home to a huge array of Palawan butterflies.
