A historic medieval city filled with UNESCO World Heritage sites, Ferrara is an attraction in and of itself for those that love the past. Even more exciting is the annual Palio di Ferrara, the world's oldest horse competition pitting eight districts against one another. A grand parade of drums and characters in medieval attire march through the streets, culminating in the main track for the games.
