Terminal Information – Departing

East Midlands Airport has one terminal for both departures and arrivals. In the departure lounge you'll find a range of the usual shops including Dixons Travel, World Duty Free and Superdrug. There's also a Boots and a WH Smith for last-minute necessities. The airport has its own food court, so there are plenty of dining options for hungry travellers. Enjoy an early morning espresso from Flat White, an Italian-American feast at Frankie & Benny's or a quick snack from Pork & Pickle. One hour of free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport, but if you need more internet access you can check yourself into the Escape Lounge for £19.99*.

Terminal Information – Arriving

Edinburgh Airport is fairly small and has just one terminal. Public transport is widely available. You can choose from the express bus, the local bus, and the tram. The Express bus terminates at Waverley train station in the city centre and costs £4.50* each way. The tram is slightly more expensive at £5* and terminates at York Place, also in the city centre. The number 35 local bus is the cheapest option at £1.50* each way, but takes far longer to reach the city centre. Taxis are available from outside the terminal, and you should expect to pay around £20* if you're going to Princes Street. Car hire at Edinburgh Airport is available from the multi-storey car park.

Practical Information

You don't need a passport to fly on domestic routes within the UK. You will need to show some identification, however: either when you check in or when you reach the boarding gate. Driving licenses and recently expired passports are fine to us. You can find a full list of approved ID types on the airline website. We recommend arriving at the airport at least one hour before you're set to fly, giving yourself extra time to get through security during the school holidays.

What to expect in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is slightly cooler than Nottingham with an average summer temperature of 15°C. Both cities have a similar winter climate. Edinburgh is quite a pricy city: you can expect to pay an extra fiver* for a mid-range dinner for two compared to Nottingham. Taxis are also more expensive, charging about £1.80* per kilometer. Note that Scottish banknotes have a different design from English ones, and can be quite tricky to spend south of the border. Try not to take too much cash out of the ATM.
