With a £12 million refurbishment in the works, flying from LCY is becoming even more luxurious. Extra seating, upgraded washrooms and new dining and shopping experiences are all part of the plan. In fact, the flagship Aelia Duty Free has recently opened, championing local brands like Cooper King Distillery and the London Honey Company. Flying from LCY is for everyone

You don’t need to be cutting a deal to fly from the heart of London. LCY provides connections to over 30 European cities from Amsterdam to Ibiza, Berlin to Barcelona. The cooler months of the year are perfect for hiking in the nearby Sierra de las Nieves National Park. 3. Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a buzzing city known for its interesting mix of art, history and vibrant urban life. Admire Antoni Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces like La Sagrada Familia and Park Güell, or head to the wide sandy Barceloneta beach for some Mediterranean sunshine. Join the bustling crowds on Las Ramblas before veering off to explore the narrow alleyways and boutique shops of the Gothic Quarter. Barcelona really shines at night with lively bars and incredible restaurants serving tapas, paella and new twists on traditional Catalan dishes.



4. Berlin, Germany
Berlin is one of Europe’s coolest cities, famous for its edgy arts scene, underground nightlife and ‘anything goes’ attitude. Visit the iconic Jet d’Eau fountain, explore the United Nations headquarters and admire historic landmarks like the Place du Bourg-de-Four. Beyond diplomacy, Geneva offers an array of cultural attractions, exquisite dining, and luxury shopping. 6. Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Amsterdam is always a good choice for a weekend break. Its iconic canals, historic architecture and vibrant cultural scene draw thousands of people each year. Cruise along the picturesque waterways, visit the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, or simply embrace the city’s liberal spirit in the infamous red light district. 7. Frankfurt, Germany
Frankfurt is a German metropolis on the Main River, where history meets the high-octane buzz of modern business. This is the country’s finance capital, after all – and home to the European Central Bank. The striking skyscraper skyline is a stark contrast to the quaint medieval streets of the Old Town. Try local delicacies in traditional apple wine taverns, or visit during December for the quintessential Christmas market experience. One of the best can be found in Römerberg square.



8. Zurich, Switzerland
As you’d expect of Switzerland, its largest city, Zurich, is surrounded by natural treasures . Located on the pristine shores of Lake Zurich, and nestled against the Alps, it’s a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The city itself has plenty of cosmopolitan culture to enjoy too. Stroll through the charming Old Town, check out the modern art collection of Kunsthaus Zurich or grab a chair in a local café to try the famous Swiss chocolate.



9. Edinburgh, Scotland
Edinburgh is one of those cities that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go. Explore the iconic Edinburgh Castle, wander the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile or take in the view from the top of Arthur’s Seat – a huge hill in the city centre. During August, the city comes alive with a series of cultural festivals, but outside of these months the city still has plenty of culture to enjoy, with an array of theatres and comedy clubs that operate year-round. Come the winter months, the lights come out, the markets start up, and the city prepares for the biggest party of the year: Hogmanay.



10. Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Luxembourg may be small, but it’s certainly diverse. There are fairytale villages, lush forests and rugged gorges. The UNESCO-listed old town of the dreamy capital, Luxembourg City, feels like it was plucked straight out of a Disney film. With a captivating blend of medieval history and modernity, it’s the perfect destination for a short break. Wine lovers will want to head to the southeastern corner of the Grand Duchy, where crisp white and sparkling wines are produced on the banks of the famous Moselle River.



11. Antwerp, Belgium
The ‘diamond capital of the world’, Antwerp combines tradition with cool modern culture. It’s also a very pretty city, with some breathtaking architecture, such as the 16th century Cathedral of Our Lady. This huge gothic church is home to original baroque artworks, including four altarpieces by Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens. After getting your fill of history, wander through vibrant neighbourhoods like the harbourside Het Eilandje, arty Het Zuid and stylish Zurenborg with its cute fairy-light decked outdoor bars.



12. Chambery, France
Nestled in the French Alps, the ski town of Chambery is the gateway to exciting mountain adventures, but it’s also a charming destination in its own right. Spend time in its historic Old Town with its medieval streets and colourful buildings, or use it as a base to enjoy the region’s range of outdoor activities. When ski season is over, it’s the perfect base for hiking and cycling.



13. Faro, Portugal
For summer or winter sun, you can’t beat Faro: the gateway to Portugal’s southern Algarve region. The sun-drenched coastline is studded with pristine beaches, charming villages and rugged sandstone cliffs. In autumn and spring, the Mediterranean climate is perfect for water sports, golf, and relaxing on the golden sands. Base yourself in buzzing party towns like Lagos and Albufeira, enjoy fresh seafood and enjoy hiking along the dramatic sea cliffs.
