Ancient Hoysala architecture with intricate and complex stone carvings. The pillars are lathe turned which is a marvel considering the age of the temple! The temple has been restored and preserved by Archeological survey of India.

Wider than normal (in India) streets, a big western yoga population, a spectacular temple and a scented, chaotic market are the cliffs notes to Mysore.

Mysore is the epicenter of Ashtanga yoga, one of the forms that became extremely popular in the West. If you want to go back to the source, and learn to do a back bend in the process, a trip to Mysore is a must.
