Located in the South Bohemia part of the Czech Republic the city is no longer a hidden gem. But, there is a reason for all the tourists - there are dozens of picture postcard locations, lots of reasonable quality hotels and restaurants and even opportunities for rafting the Vistava River that bisects the town.

Historic small town. If you are not into shopping or having a long meal, you can see the major sights and do a lap around the town square in 2 - 3 hours.

In Czech Republic's western half, Bohemia, gorgeous old Cesky Krumlov sits among the meandering arcs of the Vltava River. Its renaissance and baroque buildings are squeezed into the cobbled streets below the 16th century castle up on the hill. Tourists have discovered the place, but don't let that turn you off. This is a special town. My advice is to just enjoy Cesky Krumlov--and it isn't hard. Although there aren't many attractions to visit, best to stay here overnight and at least one full day to properly take in the small town atmosphere. This is the kind of town where you can show up at a 500 year-old pub and tourists and locals are drinking (and perhaps even singing and dancing) together in harmony.
