The Hotel Nacional de Cuba is not only a luxurious place to stay, but also a fantastic place to visit. It features a mix of styles which gives it its architectural eccentricity and flare. It once housed a decadent casino, but this was closed by Castro himself after the revolution. Even if you don’t get to stay in one of its fabulous rooms, make sure to come for a cup of tea in its elegant halls.

If that is out of your budget, one of the cheapest and most central places to stay is the Milagros Diez, which prides itself on safety and a warm welcome.

Havana is absolutely incredible. I recommend you avoid the government-owned restaurants and attractions. They are so much engaging (and yummy) than the family owned shops and restaurants. Stay in an Airbnb and engage with the locals! Bring some toiletries, i.e. toothpaste, deodorant, ben gay, yep you read that right, so you can give it to individuals or an institution that will insure it goes to the right people! Enjoy and GO TO CUBA!!
