Flights to Innsbruck

Innsbruck - A Summer and Winter Wonderland

Thinking about an Alpine break this winter and unsure of your destination? For us, it's hard to beat Innsbruck. The largest ski resort in the Alps, it has twice hosted the Winter Olympics and best of all, flights to Innsbruck can be cheap and cheerful! So what can you expect when you get there?

There are two rules of thumb with Innsbruck, pack warm for winter and pack light for summer. Snow is ever-present during the winter months, meaning plenty of winter sports fun, while temperatures regularly hit 30 degrees celsius during the long summer months.

Another reason to fly to Innsbruck is the sheer convenience of the location. With Munich and northern Italy both close at hand, you'll never be short of options if you tire of hitting the piste. We recommend checking out the stunning Kaunertal and Stubaier glaciers and ski resorts.

Old Town

Innsbruck is perfect for exploring on foot, with the Old Town promising a smorgasbord of quaint delights. Of particular note in this area is Hofkirche (a tomb monument), Cathedral at Saint Jacob (a Baroque-styled cathedral) and Schloss Ambras (a renaissance-style castle).

The Innsbruck Card

No visitor to Innsbruck should be without the Innsbruck card. Offering complimentary entrance to all of Innsbruck's sights as well as full use of the public transportation network, this card is excellent value at 39 euro for three days.

No matter what time of year you decide to visit Innsbruck, there'll likely be an event on. Winter sees the annual Ski Jump Contest and the Air & Style Snowboard Contest. In summer, the focus switches to music (Austria is the home of The Sound of Music, after all!) with the New Orleans Festival bringing jazz and Sound City catering to the younger, dancier crowd.

Getting There

Innsbruck Airport is extremely well-served from around Europe, with daily flights to most major cities. EasyJet, Air Berlin and Transavia all fly here, so even those on a strict budget should find Innsbruck flights within their budget.

Whether you're looking for a winter ski weekend or a summer break with a difference, Innsbruck delivers and then some. Just don't try and out-yodel the locals!
