Just in case you fancy a spontaneous trip, we’re just going to pop this convenient button right here…
Day One
Good morning from Barbados! I’m your friendly travel blogger who’s taking over the @skyscanner account for the next few days. First time in Barbados! Touched down at 4pm yesterday so managed to catch a few last rays on the beach before heading to Oistins fish fry – a massive BBQ held every Friday.

Palm trees, boardwalks, white sands, blue skies AND quiet beaches. These are the places, moments and memories that we need in our lives to keep us strong when the world feels the need to challenge us. It’s so important to take time out to appreciate what you can, whether that’s on holiday or just in a few minutes to yourself. Obviously that’s easy here in Barbados, but look around where YOU are.

Day Two
Goodnight from the cabanas of The Boatyard in Barbados. I finally tried the flying fish here – the island’s delicacy – along with some fries and I can see why everyone loves it so much. Apparently the way it moves its tail makes it look like it’s flying, giving it its name. Tomorrow, I’m going to try and find some healthy food.

Crane Beach – top 10 beach IN THE WORLD according to a few sources. Quiet day down there today with just a few people out on their boogie boards. Oh, and there was a lift (US: elevator) going down to it just in case you were wondering!

Day Three
You can’t beat a beautiful beach sunset can you? Where’s been the most beautiful one you’ve ever seen? This was off Browne’s Beach in Barbados – not the most colourful but that pier adds a certain something don’tcha think?

Day Four
Went to look round Bridgetown today. The whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, pretty amazing when you learn about all the fires and troubles it’s been through. I really love colourful buildings so I’m totally in my element here. This is one of the local churches. There was a service going on so didn’t go in, but it’s a lovely blue from the outside

Day Five
Sunset on Maxwell Beach, Barbados. Do I need to say anything else?
Day Six
I’ve found it difficult to handle the pressure of Skyscanner’s 1000th post today. Tried a few gimmicky things but decided on this photo, taken by the Yacht Club. I feel it sums up what holidays mean to me – having the time to see the beautiful colours in nature around us, going to places with said beautiful nature, spending time with loved ones, boats, relaxing in the fresh air and blue skies. These guys were sat there for ages – no idea what they were talking about but in the story I’ve made up for them their kids have just gone off to university and they’re enjoying a freer life, spending the kids inheritance. They’re learning how to be together again. Holidays are the perfect chance to regroup and reconnect, and that’s why its so important to make the time and to have some sort of vacation fund. No matter how big or small, holidays are medicinal.
