With its lonely position in the north-eastern Aegean, with just Agios Efstratios for company, the island of Lemnos is the perfect destination for a relaxing break. Modern tourism hasn’t had too much influence on the island, so you can get a taste for the real Greek island life. Peaceful fishing towns, flamingo dotted lakes, and wonderful sandy beaches add to the charm.

Airlines that fly to Lemnos

British Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines both fly direct to Lemnos from the UK. If you’re happy to stop over in Athens, you can fly on to Lemnos with Aegean Airlines or Olympic Air. If you’re planning a bit of island hopping in Greece, Sky Express offer public service flights to and from the islands of Ikaria, Mytilene, and Thessaloniki.

Getting to your destination

There are no buses from the airport. Taxis are available upon arrival, and wait outside the terminal building. Some hotels and resorts on Lemnos offer shuttle buses at an extra charge. Get in touch with your accommodation before travelling to find out if this is available. If you would rather make your own way around the island, car hire is available at Lemnos Airport through Europcar and Avis.
