Cheap Flights to Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo is famous for its diverse culture, rich history, and wide range of festivals. Airports in Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo has two airports. The main one is Guarulhos–Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU), which also holds the title of being Brazil’s busiest airport. If you’re flying into Sao Paulo from outside of Brazil, this is the airport you’re likely to arrive at.

Although Congonhas Airport (CGH) was an international airport until 2008, it now operates solely as a domestic airport with a number of flights from other Brazlian cities.

Flights from Europe to Sao Paulo are operated by: Air China, Iberia, and Air Europa from Madrid; Air France from Paris; Alitalia from Rome KLM from Amsterdam; Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Munich; Singapore Airlines from Barcelona; Swiss International Air Lines from Zurich; TAP Portugal from Lisbon and Porto; Turkish Airlines from Istanbul; and TAM Airlines from Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, and Paris.

Flights from North America are operated by: Aeromexico from Mexico City and Cancun; Air Canada from Toronto; American Airlines from Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York; Delta Air Lines from Atlanta, New York, and Detroit; Korean Airlines from Los Angeles;  United Airlines from Chicago, Houston, Newark, and Washington; US Airways from Charlotte; TAM Airlines from Miami, Mexico City, Orlando, and New York;  and GOL Airlines from Barbados and Aruba.

It’s also possible to fly into the airport with domestic flights from Avianca Brazil, Azul Brazillian Airlines, GOL Airlines, and TAM Airlines although most domestic arrivals land at Viracopos-Campinas International Airport which offers a number of flights to and from Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Brasilia.

Getting into Sao Paulo

The international airport sits some 40km outside of the city centre, with good public transport links.

Air conditioned shuttle buses run from Guarulhos to Praca da Republica, Paulista, Barra Funda bus station and Tiete bus station at a cost of R$35 each way. It’s also possible to catch urban bus lines 257 and 297, which are far cheaper at R$4.30. These buses connect to Tatuape Metro station, where you can make a connection.

The taxi company Gaurucoop run taxis at the airport, and you can pay for your journey in advance. It can cost anything between R$100 to R$140 for a journey from the airport to the city centre. These cabs don’t run on a meter, but have a set price list for each neighbourhood.
