These countries aren't part of the European Union, but they require a visa for British citizens:

These countries are members of the European Union but are not part of the Schengen Agreement. They still require a visa for British citizens if you're staying for more than 90 days, even if you already have a Schengen Visa:

British citizens need a Schengen visa to visit the 27 Schengen Area countries if they stay for longer than 90 days. The Schengen visa is typically issued by the government of:

• Schengen Area country you plan to spend the most time in, or
• The Schengen Area country you first enter.

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is a new entry requirement that will become mandatory for visitors to Schengen Area countries.

The ETIAS travel authorisation will come into effect in 2026. The online application costs €7 and is valid for up to three years. British citizens must have a valid authorisation to visit any of the following European countries for up to 90 days. Longer stays require visas based on the host country's rules or EU migration laws.
