Discover Port Harcourt
Nigeria’s oil capital, Port Harcourt is a buzzing industrial city in Rivers State. Flights to Port Harcourt are understandably popular with business travellers, as lots of multinational corporations have a base here, but there’s also plenty to keep leisure travellers occupied. As well as a lively nightlife there are beautiful beaches to discover, including Port Harcourt’s own artificial tourist beach on the Kolabi Creek. There are some beautiful parks too, which have gained Port Harcourt the nickname The Garden City.
Airports in Port Harcourt
Port Harcourt International Airport (PHC) is one of Nigeria’s busiest airports. The building only has one terminal, but has separate facilities for international and domestic flights. The airport underwent extensive repair work between 2006 and 2007, with a range of upgrades to the buildings lighting and wiring structures. It’s a hub for Changchangi Airlines, and is located in the suburb of Omagwa.
Airlines that fly to Port Harcourt
There are no direct flights to Port Harcourt from the UK. You can fly from Europe with Air France from Paris, and Lufthansa from Frankfurt. The Frankfurt flight makes a brief stop in Lagos.

Getting into Port Harcourt
The easiest way to get to the city from the airport is to take a taxi. This will take around 35 minutes and should cost between 4500 and 5500* (£15.40-£18.85). Alternatively you can hire a car at the airport and make your own way into the city. This has the added benefit of giving you the opportunity to explore Rivers State’s beaches and forests more easily.

When to fly to Port Harcourt
Port Harcourt experiences monsoon weather during the summer months, so the best time to visit is during winter and early spring. The driest months are December and January, which is best if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing or a lot of relaxing on the nearby beaches. Winter temperatures tend to sit at a very pleasant 15-26°C, ideal for a winter sun break.
