Tours Val de Loire Airport (TUF) is the main airport serving Tours and the surrounding area. It’s a small airport which started life during WWI, when it was a training centre for the French Air Force. It didn’t open to the public until the 1960’s, when the regional airline Touraine Air Transport headquartered itself there.

Ryanair is currently the only airline which flies to Tours, both from the UK and a range of European destinations.

Getting into Tours

From the airport you can catch a bus. Tours is said to have one of the best bus services in France, and the airport shuttle is no exception. The bus arrives half an hour after each flight has landed and takes 20 minutes to bring you into town. Single tickets cost €6.50* (about £5.20).

It’s also possible to catch a taxi from outside the terminal. Fares to the city centre are usually between €15 and €30* (roughly £12-£24). Ask the driver for an estimate before getting in if you don’t want to be surprised.

You can hire a car at Tours airport, too. This is a great option if you want to explore the wider Touraine and Loire Valley. Avis, Rent-a-car, and Hertz all have a base at the airport.
