Discover Salt Lake City
The capital city of Utah might be famous for its Mormon connection, but there’s far more to Salt Lake City than the Church of Latter Day Saints. Less than half of the city’s residents are members of the church, and plenty of people from all cultural backgrounds call Salt Lake City home. As a result there’s a fantastic dining scene, a great bohemian attitude, and plenty of wonderful outdoor activities right outside the city limits. Airports in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is the main airport serving Salt Lake City, and is the only international airport in Utah. It’s known for being one of the best US airports in terms of punctuality: in 2013 it ranked topped for on time departures and arrivals. The terminal has free Wi-Fi for all passengers, so even if your flight is delayed you can easily stay entertained.
Airlines that fly to Salt Lake City
There are currently no direct flights to Salt Lake City from the UK, although it is possible to fly direct from Paris Charles de Gaulle with Delta Airlines.
Getting into Salt Lake City
Trains and buses are available outside the arrivals terminal. Trains travel between the airport and downtown Salt Lake City every 15 minutes during the week, and every 20 minutes at the weekend. Buses are less regular, with no service on weekends and holidays. One way tickets for the bus or train cost $2.50* (around £1.55).
America is a great country for a road trip, and Utah is definitely a great place to explore on four wheels. You can rent a car at the airport if you want to pay a visit to iconic national parks like Canyonlands and Arches. Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, and Fox are all based at the airport while you can get a shuttle bus to nearby rental providers Hertz, National and Thrifty.
