The Great Wall ofChina
The Great Wall stretches for thousands of kilometres across northern China, and the snaking fortifications provide some wonderful photo opportunities. Much of the ancient wall now lies in ruins, but the stretch near Beijing is well preserved – the wall at Badaling, around 80 kilometres northwest of Beijing, is one of the most favoured spots for snap-happy visitors.

Lake Biwa FireworksFestival, Japan
Every summer, the Lake Biwa Fireworks Festival in Shiga prefecture, Japan, lights up the skies with around 10,000 fireworks. Around 350,000 people head to watch the display from various points around the huge lake, although paid seating is available for those who want to get close to the action.

Khajuraho, India
The town of Khajuraho in the state of Madhya Pradesh in northern India is home to a group of stunning 1,000-year-old Hindu and Jain temples. The monuments – around 25 in all – are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are famous for their ancient erotic sculptures depicting tantric sexual practices.

Ban Gioc Waterfall,Vietnam
Ban Gioc Waterfall on the Quay Son River is in northeastern Vietnam on the border with China, and it provides one of the most famous views in the Southeast Asian country. The nearest town is Cao Bang, and the waterfall is a short bus ride away, but be aware that you’ll need to buy a permit to visit the falls.

World’s tallestindoor waterfall, Singapore
An airport might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you’re thinking of Asia’s most Instragrammable spots, but Singapore Changi Airport is like nothing else you’ve seen. Voted the world’s best airport seven years in a row, it boasts some stunning architecture, not least the HSBC Rain Vortex – the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at a height of 40 metres.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The capital of Cambodia is peppered with beautiful temples and picturesque streets, with the Royal Palace and giant Silver Pagoda being two of the highlights. The vibrant streets are packed with cool cafés, hip bars and frantic markets – in fact the whole city is one big Instagram opp.

Matsumoto Castle,Japan
Recognised by the country’s government as a National Treasure of Japan, Matsumoto Castle in Nagano Prefecture is also known as the ‘Crow Castle’ due to its unusual black exterior. The fortifications date from the sixteenth century, and despite being damaged by earthquakes, the castle retains much of its original woodwork.

Bagan, Myanmar
The ancient city of Bagan in Mandalay is a complex of hundreds of temples spread across nearly 70 square kilometres. The city, which is around 1,000 years old, was once the capital of an ancient kingdom, and now the partially ruined temples poke up through encroaching forest, looking for all the world like the cover of a fantasy novel.
