Budget friendly Riad at the heart of Marrakesh

We visited Riad Douja at the end of April 2025.
We were looking for something budget friendly, near the square with things like breakfast.
Riad Douja ticked all the boxes.
Due to the power cut over Europe our flight was delayed by one night and the Riad reached out to check we were okay which we thought was amazing customer service.
The Riad is super easy to find off the square (just turn off by the sign for Central Palace).
We got to the Riad and were checked in super quickly by the amazing, friendly staff.
The room was clean (3 beds as we booked a triple room), had a sink in the room, warm blankets, a plug in radiator (for colder months) and plenty of space to put our things including a space to hang things.
We weren’t sure how loud things would be at night however it was super quiet.
The streets are well lit and we felt safe travelling to and from the raid.
The Riad was nice and cool (yes I know that’s the whole idea behind the design of riads).
The terrace was nice and breakfast (which was included and super nice!) was served up there from 8:30 AM. There’s also a room in the terrace to eat in if you find the sunshine too much.
We shared the bathroom with others but didn’t have any issues with this as it was clean and well maintained. There’s plenty of hot water should it be required.
Staff were super friendly and helpful and were available 24/7.
We paid in GBP and this wasn’t an issue for the Riad. Of course if you need to change money Hotel Ali is less than a 5 minute walk away to get money changed.
We would definitely be back and recommend this Riad 5/5.

Done.

Riad downtown convenient for everything. City tours and excursions. Of course, not everyone needs to be adaptive, but after seeing Beijing Express have a roof over their head, that's enough. The price is super cheap and we made the choice to spend what we saved for the hotel to do more excursions, food... I recommend it only to those who can accept that we are in a country where the standard is very low. In the ranking of our worst nights was awarded 1st place however the bed was comfortable (not old or broken through) and the kindness and helpfulness of the staff was ok. All in all I could also go back... my son I think not.

ALSO NOT

Let's start with the positive things: the breakfast was not bad but otherwise we are not there. The convenient location to reach on foot. Then to the point, I've never been in a room so dirty and badly maintained. I'm sorry, but really below the line of decency. I attach photo of one of the "guests" found in the room

Fabulous location for exploring

The place is comfortable but basic. Very friendly and helpful staff and lovely fresh breakfast served on the rooftop terrace. Best bit is the location. Only a few yards to the main square Jmaa el Fnaa and from there into the souks. The pillows were a bit hard and our hot tap was a bit dodgy but the room was budget price so that can be overlooked. Thoroughly recommend for location.

Pleasant, excellent value riad close to the main square

We only stayed one night before catching the bus to Essaouira. However, this riad was really pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but adequate - the bed was comfortable and there was a basin in the room (the bathrooms were on the top floor). This riad is perfectly placed, only a few minutes walk from Jemma el Fna and yet peaceful and quiet. Would happily stay here again.
