I strongly advise against booking this hotel. Our stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish, and it fell far below the standard that was advertised.
The rooms were not clean upon arrival. The shower drain was completely clogged with old hair, and we had to clear it ourselves just to be able to use the shower. The toilet also became blocked during our stay.
The kitchen was poorly equipped, with several essential items missing. The frying pans were incompatible with the induction cooktop, making it impossible to cook properly. There was also no extractor fan above the stove, so any cooking filled the entire room with smoke and cooking odors.
Despite the hotel advertising convenient beach access, the information about the distance to the beach was misleading. It was significantly farther than expected.
The hotel also failed to provide basic amenities such as pool towels.
The most concerning aspect of our stay was the staff. They were consistently rude, unhelpful, and, on several occasions, behaved in a manner that felt intimidating and threatening rather than professional or customer-oriented. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns, they responded with hostility, making us feel unwelcome throughout our stay.
Overall, this property was poorly maintained, inaccurately advertised, and provided unacceptable customer service. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel and would strongly encourage others to choose a different property.

Tranquil hotel, a short taxi to either the beach area or the town. Receptionist was excellent and he provided us with great local tips!

OTONOMUS HOME AWAY FROM HOME!
Perfection. Already booked to be back in January, 2026. Rented a car for super easy access to everything. Kurt is fantastic and got me any info I requested regarding beach clubs, cenotes, stores, etc. Property is beautiful and apartment has everything you could need. I was in #2 which had a private plunge pool and was right by the pool. The only thing I would add is a microwave. Construction noise from Otonomus’ new building did not bother me. Straight shot to the beach road. 7-11 right up the street and another gas station going in even closer. TAKE BUG SPRAY if you like to sit on your terrace. 100% recommend and I’ll see you again in January!

We had a nice stay at Otonomous. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed good wifi, tv and AC, and easy access to the pool (we had a pool view room with private pool, so we were on the main floor). The staff were all very nice and accommodating, as well. I would note, however, that there were limited cooking supplies (we had to request cutlery and pans, there are no cutting boards, other kitchen tools, or dish towels, etc.). You're also only given one bath towel and one swim towel, which isn't really enough for one week. The soundproofing wasn't good either, so if you have loud neighbours you will hear them (we were lucky to have good neighbours for most of our stay - and overall the guests were friendly and respectful). There was also construction on adjacent buildings during the weekdays, which is an issue if you plan to stay at the hotel for the day (we mainly did day trips). Also, the hotel is not within walking distance to the beach, especially if you have children (it is about a 25 min walk down a narrow busy road that is not safe for walking) - and the beach was covered in sargassum seaweed so not swimmable anyway. We found a nicer beach in Jaguar Park, which is a drive. It is also far from town (15-minute drive). So it's a balance of being more secluded (positive) but less accessible to beach and town. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it's a good launching pad for adventures in the area if you rent a car (or bicycles).
