Cirebon is a port city, located in the north East Java and can be reached by 3 hours train from capital city, Jakarta. It's a great place if you want a short trip, especially for food and culture trip. This city is the source of a famous Batik Trusmi. It has A LOT of specialized food, like Nasi Jamblang, Empal Gentong, Nasi Lengko etc. It also has 2 Keraton (Kanoman and Kasepuhan), a cave (Gua Sunyaragi), and a recreational place Ade Irma.

If you don't like shopping and want to explore the batik market, you can try riding a becak while waiting for your family or groups. Not many becak riders can speak English and usually they give a very high price to foreigners. If you want to try the ride, you can try saying this... "Keliling pasar 20 ribu saja ya Pak" in English means "you only want to go around the market area just by paying 20 thousand rupiah or arpund $2." Trust me, he will not bargain the price once you said that.. :)

This little town off Jakarta (approximately 3 hours) is famous for its batik and spas. The food is equally good and worth exploring. Visit Trusmi Batik area and have some local food Empal Gentong and Nasi Jamblang if you are here.
