A nice fishing village about 2 hours south of Accra that was once the capital of the Gold Coast colony when it was ruled by the British (and before the capital was moved to Accra). This is worth a visit for the Cape Coast Castle, but it's also the home of the first churches of Ghana for a little additional history.
realy nice university city with friendly restaurantes, good bars in the center, several guesthouses, historic fortresses to visit
If you have any interest in African history or the slave trade going to both Cape Coast or Elmina Castle is a must. These old slave forts are well preserved and have excellent tours. Cape Coast especially has a very well done museum on the Africa diaspora.
Tons of historical and natural experiences here. Visit the slave castles, browse the handicraft markets (make sure to barter!), and walk over the canopy bridge at Kakum National Park.
