A Real Gem on the Mosel

Gasthof Gerlach was a real treat. Christian was our host and could not possibly have been more helpful and courteous. The breakfasts were superb with a large variety of items and all extremely fresh. The rooms were very large and all of ours overlooked the magnificent Mosel. The location was perfect for visiting the Mosel Valley. We even used it to make a day trip to Luxembourg and Belgium and some of the Battle of the Bulge sites. Absolutely one of the best deals I have experienced in leading small groups to Europe for the past 15 years.

A perfect overnight stay at the riverfront

We were travelling from Hesse to Brussels and decided to stop over at the Moselle river, our favorite tourist route. The booking done, we were later informed the hosts had to close temporarily but the broker had found another place for us. I confirmed the recommended booking at the Winegut Gerlach. An excellent choice, it turned out!
The house Gerlach overlooks the Moselle river at the first row of houses from the riverfront. This is a guesthouse with 8 rooms, it is an old building from the 1930's but fully renovated, our room felt brand-new.
The room was large with a broad double bed, view to the river, and a spacious bathroom/toilet equipped with all one could wish for. There was a broad desk cum working place as well, naturally free wi-fi and a quality flat-screen TV.
The bed was hard but good for the back, cover a bit short for my stature but othervise fine. One pillow only, my wife would have liked another to prop her up in bed. The road noise from outside is audible but fairly well isolated. The breakfast was nicely put out and included the regular German choices.
The lady of the house is very friendly, she helped us with the heavy bags and we were soon in discussion about the Moselle wines. The Winehouse Gerlach produces fine rieslings which are for sale in different cartons and for reasonable prices.
An excellent stay and very nice landlady, very good price-quality ratio too!

stay on the main road, don't go to the street Huwei, unless you want to unload your car, then you don't have to do the steps
lots of biking tracks nearby, go up or down the moezel

Hier ist man Herzlich Willkommen!!!

Wir waren als Wanderer für eine Nacht im Gästehaus Gerlach.
Schon der Empfang war überaus herzlich.
Unser Zimmer war top gepflegt, ausgestattet mit neuem Doppelbett, Flachbildfernseher, Kühlschrank, Kaffeemaschine und einem grosszügigen Bad mit Dusche.
Auch der Fön fehlte nicht.
Das Frühstück war sehr gut, sowohl in der Auswahl, als auch in der Qualität.
Als Wanderer wurden uns sogar Brötchen für unterwegs angeboten.
Alles in allem können wir das Gästehaus uneingeschränkt empfehlen.
PS: Auch der Wein ist super lecker.

Uitbaters, heel vriendelijke ontvangst, je voelt je er thuis....4 maal terugkeren, waarvan 3 maal op rij, dat zegt toch iets. Het is een heel goede uitvalbasis voor fietstochten, Bernkastel, Traben Trarbach, Daun. Restaurants in de buurt en het morgenontbijt op het verblijf uitstekend. Wees niet bang dat je vaststelt dat het morgenontbijt niet massaal is uitgestald, maar er word voortdurend aangevuld. Vraag en je krijgt het. Het is ook een vorm om verspilling te gen te gaan, dus heel positief. kamers zijn netjes, ja...je voelt er je thuis, aangenaam en je krijgt alle info
