The west is the best! San Ignacio is the Largest District located in Western Belize. There is so much to see and so much to do here. Exploring the ancient Mayan ruins, horseback riding, cave-tubing, canoeing, kayaking, you name it! Almost everything in this town is within walking distance, ideal to mingle with the friendly locals

good place to see forest and ruins in xunantunich, not the biggest ruins but nice only some houers from Belmopan.

San Ignacio is one of the largest settlements in Belize. It has a much warmer atmosphere than Belize's biggest city, Belize City, and is considerably more vibrant than Belmopan, its Cayo District neighbor and the Belizean capital. San Ignacio is a hub for the whole region, with transport links around the country and into nearby Guatemala. While the town itself has a good range of restaurants and bars, plus all the essential conveniences, the surrounding countryside is spectacular. Think lush rainforests, winding rivers, tall cliffs and Mayan temples.
