Hotels in Graz

Austria’s lively second city is known for gastronomy, culture, and a lively nightlife.  There are plenty of great hotels in Graz ideal for enjoying an Austrian city break.

The old town of Graz is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dotted with baroque buildings and presided over by the impressive Schlossberg: a castle on top of a hill. You can take the funicular to the top and admire the views, but there’s a picturesque walking trail if you feel the need to exercise your legs. Art galleries and history museums offer plenty of culture too, and during the summer the streets are filled with musicians playing a combination of hit songs and orchestral classics.

With six universities in the city limits, and a student population of more than 50 thousand, Graz has a reputation as a party town. There’s something to suit every nightlife style, from laid back jazz bars and swanky cocktail lounges, to buzzing nightclubs where the party doesn’t get started until well after midnight. There are lots of great restaurants in Graz too, from kebab stands selling budget eats to fine dining restaurants serving the very best of local cuisine.

Accommodation in Graz is varied, with something for every pocket and taste. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic weekend with your partner, a lively weekend with your friends, or for a cultural break with your family, you’ll find an excellent range of places to stay in and around the city. Graz is a compact city, with a historic centre that’s easy to navigate on foot.

Hotels in Graz old town are perfect if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing, partying, or simply want to be in the heart of the action. You can often find great deals on hotels outside the city centre, too. Like all Austrian cities, Graz has a fantastic and efficient public transport system. If you don’t mind catching buses or trams to the main attractions, it’s well worth looking at hotels outside of the old town. There’s a good range of cheap hotels near the hauptbanhof (train station), which are just a short walk from the main square.
