Plan your holiday to Split
Budget
The Dalmatian Coast has a reputation for premium prices, but an affordable holiday in Split is well within reach. A free walking tour of the Old Town is a great way to start. A domestic beer costs around four euros (€) and a meal at an inexpensive restaurant about €15 – even Split's famous nightlife is manageable on a budget.
Getting around Split
Getting around Split is straightforward. Walk or hire a bike to explore the heart of the city, or use Promet Split buses – 19 routes serve the city. Buses also cover journeys outside Split, and ferry and catamaran routes connect to nearby islands. Taxis are a practical option for nights out.
Day trips from Split
Just up the coast, Trogir is a well-preserved medieval town with impressive architecture and Renaissance art. Drive or take the bus to Krka National Park for some of Croatia's most beautiful waterfalls – you can hike, swim or take a boat tour up the Krka River to the ruins of Trošenj and Nečven Castles.
