The ‘Paris of the Prairies’, Saskatoon is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Canada’s province of Saskatchewan. There’s a lot to love in Saskatoon. Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (YXE) serves the city. The airport works hard towards its mission statement “to be Canada’s most valued airport experience.” The airport has an interesting display showcasing the history of the region and the stories of the local community, and free Wi-Fi is offered throughout the terminal. Canadian icons Tim Horton have a shop airside, so you can indulge in one of their famous doughnuts one final time before heading home.
Airlines that fly to Saskatoon
There are no direct flights to Saskatoon from the UK. Air Canada and Air Canada Express both offer flights from Canadian cities including Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Other airlines flying into Saskatoon from Canadian and US cities are Delta Connection, Pronto Airways, ExpressAir, Transwest Air, United Express, WestJet, and WestJet Encore.
Getting into Saskatoon
Bus line 12 runs from the airport to downtown Saskatoon. Adult fares are $3.10* Canadian (about £1.65) each way. Taxis are also available from the airport, and a trip into the city should cost around $12* Canadian (about £6.30). It’s always wise to get an estimate from the driver before setting off. Car hire is also available at the airport from Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, National and Thrifty.

When to fly to Saskatoon
Saskatoon’s weather is at its best from May until September, when the daily temperature ranges from 10°C-20°C. The summer is when the city really comes to life, with plenty of great festivals to enjoy.
From June to July you can take in the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, which has free and paid performances throughout the city. During July and August you can catch Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan performances by the province’s only professional theatre troupe. The Saskatoon Exhibition takes place in August, and comes complete with fairground rides and live shows.
