Discover Jaipur

Known as The Pink City due to its unique architecture, Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. It’s a colourful and vibrant city, with all the chaos you would expect from an Indian capital. Auto-rickshaws and camels jostle for space with packed buses and swanky town cars, while historical buildings offer jaw-dropping vistas at every turn.

Airports in Jaipur

Jaipur Airport (JAI) is Rajasthan’s only international airport. Plans for expansion are currently in place, with hopes that this will increase the number of international flights to Jaipur. The building is fairly modern, and features a sandstone welcome gate that celebrates local culture. The gate includes Dholpur stones and Rajasthani paintings. The airport uses fountains to maintain a normal temperature, and the windows have adjustable shades to control the amount of sunlight flooding into the building.

Airlines that fly to Jaipur

There are no direct flights from the UK to Jaipur. If you’re planning a trip to Jaipur you will either need to stop over in the Middle East, or in another Indian city: most flights are from Delhi and Bangalore, although flights are available from other cities including Mumbai and Kolkata.

When to fly to Jaipur

The winter season, from October to March, is the most pleasant time to visit if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing. It’s often sunny and there’s a cool breeze. The Jaipur Literature Festival takes place in January, and the famous Elephant Festival takes place in March.

The wet season is from July until September, and if you don’t mind a bit of rain, this is a great time to visit Jaipur. The pink hue of the city is emphasised by the rain, hotels generally offer better rates, and August’s Teej festival offers the chance to enjoy local dance performances and indulge in regional sweets.
