Alice Springs Airport (ASP) is the award winning regional air hub serving the town. The airport won the title of Airport of the Year 2014 at the National Airport Industry Awards, mostly thanks to its innovative use of solar energy. The airport has a public art precinct, a restaurant, a newsagents and a souvenir shop so you have everything you need to relax before flying onwards.
Airlines that fly to Alice Springs
There are no direct flights from the UK to Alice Springs. The majority of flights to Alice Springs are from domestic Australian airports. Alliance Airlines flies in from Brisbane and The Granites, Qantas flies from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, Cobham flies from Ayers Rock, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Perth while Virgin Australia have recently started flights from Adelaide and Darwin.
Getting into Alice Springs
There’s an airport shuttle bus which meets all scheduled flights, bringing them into Alice Springs. The shuttle also brings passengers back to the airport in time for scheduled departure. Tickets cost $16* (about £8.20) per passenger each way. There are discounts if you’re travelling in a group of four or more: tickets are only $11* (about $5.60) per passenger each way. You can book your tickets online in advance, or from the attendant on the day.
You can pick up a taxi from outside the terminal building. Expect to pay around $32* (about £16.35) each way. Bear in mind taxi prices can fluctuate: it’s always a good idea to ask the driver for an estimate before you set off.
