Terminal Information

Manchester Airport

There are three terminals at Manchester Airport. Thomas Cook Airlines and EasyJet flights all depart from Terminal 1, Jet2, Monarch and Tui flights depart from Terminal 2, and Ryanair flights depart from Terminal 3. Passengers on European flights are advised to check in at least two hours before their scheduled flight departure time. Most airlines offer online check in as well as check in at the airport, if you are flying with Easyjet and Ryanair you will need to check in online or via mobile up to two hours before your flight departure time as there are no check in facilities at the airport. If you are travelling with hold luggage and have checked in online you can take your bags to the bag drop desks in the check in halls.

All three terminals at Manchester Airport offer a great range of facilities. There’s the option to purchase a Fast Track Pass, which allows you to bypass longer queues through security. Passes are available from self-service machines just outside the security area. Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal buildings for up to one hour free of charge. A premium service is also available for purchase for those with longer layovers. In the departures lounges you’ll find a great selection of food, drink and shopping outlets. There are also premium lounges available for a fee.

Palma Airport

Palma Airport is located eight kilometres east of Palma city centre. The airport has just one terminal with arrivals located on the ground floor. In the arrivals hall there’s a couple of cafés, a convenience store, a cash machine and car hire desks.

Car hire companies based at the airport include Hertz, Enterprise, Avis, Goldcar Rental, Europcar, Sixt and Record Go. Hiring a car is a great way to get around the island, particularly if you’re renting a villa or planning to travel between the big resorts.

Alternatively, you can get from the airport to major island destinations by bus. Route 1 connects the airport to Palma city and the port, departing every 15 minutes between 5:30 and 1:00. Route 21 connects the airport to a number of hotels and resorts along Palma beach. This service departs every 30 minutes and runs from 7:00 to 1:00.

Taxis also stop at a rank outside the terminal. Fares are slightly higher if you’re travelling on weekday evenings between 21:00 and 6:00 or at weekends.

What to Expect in Palma

Palma enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with summer highs in the low thirties and even spring and autumn temperatures hovering around the mid-twenties. Winters are very mild too with daytime temperatures rarely dropping into single figures.

Whilst you may find things a little more expensive in tourist resorts, the cost of living in Palma and Mallorca is general is much cheaper than in Manchester. You can expect your money to go further in Palma so it's a great destination for a cheap break.
