Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA) serves the city of Ajaccio, and is the main base for Air Corsica. The airport is named after the famous French emperor, who was born in the city. The airport was previously known as Campo dell’Oro Airport, and still is by some locals.

Getting into Ajaccio

There are hourly buses between the airport and the city, with an average journey time of 20 minutes. One way tickets cost €4.50 (about £3.40).* There’s also a taxi rank at the airport, and it should cost roughly €10 (about  £7.50)* to get from the airport to the city. This is a rough estimate, and it’s always wise to ask your driver. Bear in mind taxi prices go up at night, on the weekends, and on bank holidays.

If you’re staying in rural accommodation or want to do a lot of exploring, it’s worth hiring a car at the airport. Alamo, Avis, Budget, National Citer, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt all have offices in or near the terminal building.
