Denmark’s second city offers a heady mixture of historic buildings, lively nightlife, and modern art. Pitching itself as “the world’s smallest big city” the streets of Aarhus are quick and easy to explore but packed with plenty of great things to see and do. In Aarhus you’ll find Northern Europe’s second largest cathedral, the first museum dedicated to women’s history, and an open air museum showing what life in Aarhus was like three hundred years ago. During the summer months there’s an excellent amusement park, as well as three lovely beaches to lounge on.  Add plenty of great annual festivals, lots of excellent eateries, and some fabulous Scandinavian design stores and you’ve got the perfect spot for a Danish city break.
