The picturesque town is crowned with a 1.8km jetty that stretches into the glittering ocean. Between May and December, the jetty is a draw for more than just tourists – tens of thousands of whales pass on their annual migration from Antarctica. There’s also a magnificent Underwater Observatory to watch turtles and other marine life swim past.

This is a town of fresh water springs and some of Australia’s tallest trees. It’s a place to cool off when the summer heat hits, with a plunge into Fonty’s Pool or a picnic under the hardwood Karri Trees. Manjimup still carries signs of its pioneer past – heritage buildings are scattered across the town, like Dingup Church and Pioneer Cairn. Known for its black truffle season from June to September and tasty dinners, Manjimup is the perfect place for a last slither of tranquillity before returning to the big city.
