Travalyst: Changing travel for good
Working with industry leaders to help make the travel industry more sustainable.

Bringing the
industry together
Skyscanner is one of the founding partners of Travalyst, a non-profit organisation empowering travellers and industry to make better choices for themselves and the planet.
It includes some of the biggest names in travel, such as Amadeus, Booking.com, Expedia Group, Google, Travelport, Trip.com Group, TripAdvisor and Visa.
Together with Travalyst, we’re working to help both the industry and travellers make more sustainable choices, as well as to provide accurate sustainability information, at
scale – giving anyone booking travel universal access to
clear, consistent and credible information about their travel choices, on the platforms they know and trust.

Anyone booking travel can now
see flight emissions estimates
in a clear, consistent and credible way.
Calculating emissions with the Travel Impact Model
Our aviation emissions information is powered by the Travel Impact Model (TIM), which is calculated using data supplied by Travalyst coalition partners
The TIM has been developed by Google, in partnership with Travalyst’s coalition, and validated by Travalyst’s Independent Advisory Group. The model takes several things into account to estimate CO2 emissions on a per passenger basis, such as aircraft type, cabin class and seat configuration.
Now, anyone booking travel can see flight emissions estimates across several platforms. Presenting this information at scale – in a clear, consistent and credible way – helps travellers to make informed choices and helps us to evolve how we think about our impact as an industry.
The TIM Advisory Committee has been established to ensure that the Travel Impact Model continues to evolve as a public good, and future development of the model is executed to the highest standards and according to the latest science.
More information on the TIM can be found here.
