Comfort, warmth, bed and bathroom

We stayed at this hotel two nights in December 2025, just before New Year's Eve, the comfort was total, the warmth in the entrance and in the room very well thermometered and without excesses, the size of the room with that huge bed and the arrangement of furniture and utensils very effective, the excellent size toilet also and provision of bath linen, the quality and cleanliness of the towels so fluffy, great, the exceptional elevator (nice thing) and the treatment with the owners all excellent out of 10. We have been delighted and will like to come back someday.

Retro chic.

lots of places spend big on creating a patina. This place has it for real. It's charming, centrally located, comfortable, friendly, and has great showers. The owner will open the door late at night in his dressing gown. It's that kind of place. Highly recommended.

Unexpected old world charm

Loved the decor, faded chintz etc. A bit quirky, full of character and delightful hosts. All very clean and comfortable, our dogs were welcomed, and the breakfast was excellent. We used it as a "pit stop" but realise that it could be a good place for people exploring the Basque country. The hotel is in the old part of the town with an fun wine bar nearby plus very friendly restaurant, and the only drawback was that we were not aware of the one-way system, with bollards at the end of the road requiring help from our host. The locals were, however, exceptionally helpful. Excellent value and highly recommended.

Old world charm

Old world charm in the old part of town. Big room with high ceilings and pretty eclectic furniture and wallpaper. But somehow it worked.
Room also had big doors opening onto small Juliette balcony.. bath room small but unfortunately the smallish bath had no plug
The bed was ok.
I loved the old wooden floors, which were a bit on a slope. This being such an old building it gave it a lot of character and history as many many people must have walked on these floors.
The check-in was quick and friendly.
The hotelier went out of his way to walk with my husband to our car
and then show him where to park for free in a car park situated close by.
This hotel is situated on a town square with cafes etc but the main entrance is from the street behind.
A beautiful imposing wooden staircase greets you when at the check-in desk.
Remember.. this is an old building so things squeak a bit. Also a bit of noise from the people enjoying themselves at the cafes and from the people in next door room, but not annoyingly so.
Old world charm and good friendly service

Old charme in the middle of town

We spend 4 nights in this friendly family run hotel right in the middle of Bergara. The hotel is in a building dating from the 17th century so don't be surprised not everything is as straight as it should be. Rooms are simple but clean. Information on the surrounding is available by booklets and by the hotel-owner. Breakfast is a little above the Spanish standard. The plaza in front of the hotel is every evening filling up with people for the paseo so if you like it quiet ask for a room at the street. Bergara is a good base for exploring the Basque country. Beautiful surrounding and only an hour to the coast and 90 minutes from the Guggenheim in Bilbao (order your tickets online ahead).
