Nice Riad in Marrakech!

Traveled to Marrakech with my 25 year old granddaughter. We enjoyed this place. Plenty of room, private patio, lovely pool. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Not much for kitchen features, no microwave, toaster, limited tools for cooking. We managed just fine however.

The photos in the brochure do not correspond to reality at all, in a negative sense.

way below par, overdue maintenance, no atmosphere, 1 sofa, 1 bed (mattress is a shelf), sunbeds without pillows or the like (and therefore also way too hard). There was nothing we were satisfied with. This is not a timeshare with a class you can count on at RCI and rely on. This location should be removed from the offer as soon as possible.

Terrible, dirty, rude staff, scary experience!!!

Well where to start, we booked this accommodation for a week away in Marrakech middle of March and needless to say it was the most horrific and scary starts to our holiday. We landed on the Sunday evening, our taxi driver couldn’t find the location as it had changed names to il morro yet no notification of this anywhere. Eventually we got there around 8.30pm. The man (definitely not gentleman) was stood waiting for us, he was very annoyed and angry for some reason, he demanded yes demanded our passports and refused to hand them back until we gave him printed copy of booking confirmation. No where did it state we had to have to printed prior to arrival otherwise we would have done. We clearly didn’t have access to printer so asked if we could email it him and he print he refused. We showed him the confirmation on our phones and he kept pushing them away. I got quite cross and demanded he gives us our passports back he had no right to withhold them. He then got more angry and shouted at us saying do you want room or not. We had never been to Morocco before and it was dark and late as we had little to no options so said yes. He walked us across the courtyard around the pool was pitch black, opened up the door and walked in turning on lights as he went. Still no passports at this point.
He then went and came back and threw our passports at us and threw the room key on the floor at my husbands feet storming out and slamming the door to the apartment!! Needless to say I was scared and anxious.
Onto to the apartment, well it was awful!! In fact that’s an understatement. There was no running water in the showers, the toilets didn’t flush, the kitchenette area was disgusting, curtains didn’t close, the bed was literally rock hard. The light switches were hanging out of the wall with wires showing. It was absolutely terrible. The only running water we had was from bathroom sink and it was cold only. No hot water. We were devastated and were debating to get a taxi back to the airport and fly home. I used some of the pots and pans in the kitchen to block the apartment door as we were nervous the guy would come back in the night. He didn’t thankfully.
We stayed away all night going through our options and thankfully we managed to find another hotel near by which we booked to arrive on the Monday morning.
As soon as the sun came up we left, we didn’t even unpack, just got our stuff and left. When we were leaving there was a different guy who didn’t understand what we were saying about the man the night before and the state of the rooms. We just handed the key over and left in a hurry.
Thankfully the hotel we booked was lovely, they understood we hadn’t eaten or drank anything since the airport the night before and allowed us to eat buffet breakfast for free which was lovely of them. We couldn’t check in till 3pm but they hurried a room along for us as they knew the situation we had been in. This hotel by the way was called Kenzi Rose Gardens. Our saving grace!!!! We stayed here for the remainder of your holiday.
We tried to contact the Palm Club who have not come back to us surprise surprise.
I wanted to make sure people knew that the reviews on here are either fake or very old, as it was certainly not a nice place to be. Do not ruin your holiday and book here!!!

The timeshare has a name change. It’s Moro Hotel now.

Don’t compare timeshares in Africa to the US. You will be disappointed. The restaurant does not serve any alcohol. Plus, you will not find any place that serves it nearby. There is a supermarket walking distance.

Read Reviews to Help Manage Expectations

My general experience when booking a timeshare or similar property is always a mixed bag. While its exciting to find accommodations in an exotic place, you'll always not sure what you'll get. Standards are not first world for sure, i.e. bathrooms & kitchens that are not updated (my pet peeve are dark spots in caulking caused by humidity). Read reviews to manage expectations! Location was excellent though - next to Le Jardin Majorelle and short cab ride to the Medina and other spots. We booked the timeshare for a week but also booked one night in a nice riad in the medina and an overnight stay in a riad in Essaoiura which made our stay more enjoyable.
