The Milos Travel Trap: Santorini Prices, Zero Compassion

Avoid Milos: When Greek Island Hospitality Turns Ice Cold
I strongly advise against visiting Milos, and particularly staying at Finakas Studios What started as a promising Greek island getaway turned into a perfect example of how some destinations prioritize profit over people.
The Price Paradox
Milos charges accommodation rates that exceed even Santorini despite being a small, lesser-known island with limited infrastructure and fewer attractions. This pricing inconsistency reveals an opportunistic approach that exploits the lack of accommodation alternatives on the island.
Fair Weather Friends
When everything goes smoothly, the hotel staff appears welcoming and accommodating. But the moment passengers face travel difficulties which is exactly when you need support most they completely change their attitude. Ferry cancellations are frequent and make the island inaccessible, yet no flexibility is offered whatsoever.
Cold Shoulders When You Need Help
Once problems arise, these supposedly hospitable hosts become cold, unresponsive, and indifferent to travelers' situations. They either stop responding entirely or reply with icy, dismissive messages that show zero consideration for the passenger's predicament. Even when it becomes physically impossible to honor your reservation due to cancelled ferries, they refuse any commercial gesture or understanding.
The Real Face Behind the Smile
These are not genuine hosts who care about their guests' experience they are cold, profit-driven operators who are only interested in taking your money. The moment circumstances become challenging, their true nature emerges: complete indifference to customer welfare and a purely mercantile mentality that puts profit before people.
My Recommendation
Save your money and choose destinations where hospitality isn't just a marketing facade. There are countless Greek islands with genuine warmth and fair pricing where you'll be treated as a valued guest, not just a source of revenue to exploit.

Double rooms only, zero assistance in case of problems

The studios are in a central and convenient area to reach any necessary service. The rooms are double and recently furnished, equipped with the necessary.
The low rating arises from the fact that we booked a triple room which was not a triple, the third bed could not be called a bed as it consisted of a folding bed with a squeaky base about 30cm high from the floor. The mattress placed on top was about 4cm high. It is impossible for an adult to sleep there, perhaps even problematic for a child. The second problem arose because no response was given to our report, they did not propose to change the bed or change the room, and in general we were treated in an uncooperative manner, as if the problem did not exist for them. . On the second day they offered us to move to a different room, always triple, always with a camp bed, but this time double! Further discussions, which ended in nothing. In short, zero assistance and collaboration from the structure.

Good rooms and well looked after

These are well-run, clean rooms, with a good bathroom, beds, effective air conditioning and basic facilities, including a good fridge, for making coffee, snacks etc. The rooms have (quite small) terraces, and have reliable free wi-fi. It's only a short walk to the local tavernas and the bus stop for buses going all over Milos for the best beaches. The rooms offer good value for money, and the owner Matina goes out of her way to be helpful and responsive to guests' needs. Highly recommended.

Great stay

Had a wonderful stay at Finikas studios. The room was spacious and clean with a kitchenette which had all the necessities. Matina was very friendly and helpful and even offered a room for showering and changing after checkout.
