Discover Ulaanbaatar

Chaotic, lively, and oozing with local culture, the capital of Mongolia is a thriving city well worth a visit. Ulaanbaatar may not be one of Asia’s most beautiful cities, but it’s definitely one of the most interesting. Buddhist monks rub shoulders with businessmen and bohemians, while the buzzing nightlife offers something for everyone: as long as you’re into techno, house, or electronica.

Ulaanbaatar is likely to be your first and last stop on a trip to Mongolia, thanks to its international airport, and it’s a wild contrast to peaceful and beautiful countryside you’re likely to experience during the rest of your trip. Still, bustling Ulaanbaatar makes an excellent bookend to a journey around Mongolia. You may find you want to stay a little longer than a few days.
