Nevis is the smaller half of the two-island nation of St Kitts & Nevis. It might be small, but it has plenty to offer its visitors. The tiny capital of Charlestown has a great, laid back atmosphere, and lots of interesting culture and history: most revolving around the nation’s history as a sugar producing country, and around the big names like Alexander Hamilton and Horatio Nelson .A solo volcanic peak sits at the centre of the island, perfect for nature hikes, while the paradise beaches offer plenty of places to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
Airports in Nevis
Vance W. Amory International Airport (NEV) serves the island. It’s gone through a few name changes over the years, starting as Bambooshay Airport then changing to Newcastle Airport. The latest name change took place in 2002, after the airport went through extensive refurbishment.
Airlines that fly to Nevis
There are no direct flights from the UK to Nevis. Air Sunshine, Cape Air, Coastal Air, FlyMontserrat, Seaborne Airlines, Tradewind Aviation, and Winair all fly to the island from a range of South American and Caribbean destinations.
Getting to your destination
Car hire is the best option if you want to spend time exploring everything the island has to offer, from visiting secluded beaches and nature trails or for hopping between golf courses and plantations. If you’re looking forward to a week of R&R on your nearest beach, you can take a taxi from the airport or enquire at your hotel or resort about airport shuttles.

When to fly to Nevis
The high season in Nevis runs from mid-December to April, when the weather is at its most pleasant. While flight and hotel prices tend to drop in the summer, this is also when Nevis experiences its hurricane season (June to November). The very worst of the weather comes in September and October, but the rest of the summer season should be fine if you’re willing to risk a few stormy days during your trip. Many of the businesses on the island close during the low season, so the atmosphere is a lot quieter than in the height of winter.
