Discover Lviv
Historic, beautiful, and fiercely Ukrainian, Lviv is the perfect destination for an off-the-beaten-track city break. There are no signs of Soviet oppression in the city, which is more similar to Prague and Krakow than cities in the Eastern Ukraine. The UNESCO listed city centre, with its narrow cobbled streets and buzzing café bars, features some of the best architecture in Eastern Europe. The beer is said to have magical properties, and locals say “those who drink Lviv beer will one hundred years live.”

Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport (LWO) is less than 4 miles from Lviv city centre. The airport takes its name from King Daniel of Galicia, the 13th Century ruler who founded the city. The airport was expanded in 2012, and has a modern feel.
Airlines that fly to Lviv
No airlines fly direct from the UK to Lviv. Indirect flights, with one or more stops, are available through Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, KLM and Swiss.
Getting into Lviv
Bus line 48 goes from the new terminal to the city centre, and a single ticket costs 3 UAH (about 13p)*. From the old terminal you can take the trolleybus for 2 UAH (about 8p).* Taxis are available outside the terminal building, and a trip to the city centre should cost around UAH 45 (about £1.90)*. Don’t be afraid to negotiate with your driver before setting off.
Car hire is also available at Lviv Airport, from a range of different suppliers including Sixt and Budget.
