With its Tsarist architecture, leafy boulevards, and huge array of pavement cafes, Krasnodar is a laid back and relaxing destination for a Russian holiday. There’s plenty to keep culture vultures entertained in Russia’s “Little Paris”, with a wide array of theatres to choose from in the 19th Century Old Downtown and a good selection of classic and modern art galleries to boot. Outdoor enthusiasts will also adore Krasnodar. It’s close to the beautiful beach resorts of the Black Sea, while the rugged Caucasian Mountains offer opportunities for adventure to the south of the city.

 

Airports in Krasnodar

Krasnodar International Airport (KRR), sometimes known as Pashkovsky Airport, is the main airport serving the city. In terms of capacity it’s the largest airport in Southern Russia. The terminal has everything you would expect from a good international airport. There’s a VIP lounge, a range of shops and eateries, and Wi-Fi access.

 

Airlines that fly to Krasnodar

No airlines currently offer direct flights from the UK to Krasnodar. You can fly from Western Europe with Austrian Airlines (Tyrolean Airways) from Vienna, and seasonally with Orenair from Dusseldorf. Most flights to Krasnodar include a layover in Moscow.

Getting into Krasnodar

You can expect to pay around RUB 200* (about £2.25)* for a taxi from the airport to the city centre. Alternatively you can catch the public bus, which only costs RUB 15* (about 20p)*. Bear in mind that the drop off points are set, so you may need to take a taxi from the bus stop to your hotel. Car hire is also available at the airport, and is a good option if you’re planning on doing a lot of exploring in and around the city.

When to visit Krasnodar

July and August offer the warmest weather, and are great months to visit whether you’re planning on doing some sightseeing or just want to relax in the Black Sea resorts. Flight prices tend to be lowest in January, but remember to pack your thermals. Winter in Krasnodar is very bitter, with temperatures frequently plummeting below freezing.
