Old and new combine in Nuuk, which has a long and interesting history. It’s surrounded by picturesque fjords and mountains, and although the cement buildings of the town centre are rather uninspiring, there are some quaint buildings around the harbour and plenty of great museums covering local art, history and culture. Nuuk has a relaxing atmosphere, and is a great base for nature lovers. You can spot up to three species of whales in the nearby fjord system, and some excellent skiing is available nearby.
