It takes just 10 minutes to drive from Emerald Airport to Emerald town centre, taking route A7 north. The A7 runs through the centre of town and acts as a handy reference point for navigation. It’s easy to find a parking space in the small town and attractions are all well signposted.
Sitting at the foothills of Mount Zamia, Springsure is a picturesque town offering a range of historical sights and outdoor activities. In the town, visitors will find a heritage listed hospital and a museum full of artefacts. National parks in the region surrounding Springsure include Minerva Hills, Ka Ka Mundi and Salvatore Rosa, all of which offer great hiking opportunities and impressive viewpoints.
Springsure is 40 minutes’ drive from Emerald Airport, taking the A7 south. The town is laid out over just a few roads so it’s easy to find your way around.
The small town of Blackwater is known as the “coal mining capital of Queensland”. At local bars and pubs, you can mingle with the local mining community, whilst at the Blackwater International Coal Centre you can learn more about the coal industry through a variety of interactive exhibits. Close by, you can enjoy the fresh air out at Bedford Weir, a popular destination for water skiing, boating and fishing.
Blackwater is an hour’s drive east of Emerald Airport, taking route A4. The small town offers plenty of parking options as does Bedford Weir.
