The futuristic cityscape is just as impressive as Tokyo’s, while the friendly locals with their distinctive dialect add plenty of local flavour. Speaking of flavour, Osaka is famous for gastronomy. Locals tend to live by the philosophy of kuidaore: eat ‘til you drop.

There are two airports in Osaka. Most international travellers will arrive at Kansai International Airport (KIX), which sits on an artificial island in the middle of Osaka Bay.
