Quatro de Fevereiro Airport (LAD) is currently the main international airport in Angola. The new Angola International Airport is currently under construction, with estimates suggesting that the airport will be ready to receive flights by mid 2017. The airport is named after the 4th of February, an important national holiday which marks the country’s uprising against its colonisers.

Getting into Luanda

There’s no public transport between the airport and the city. In recent years the number of taxis outside the airport has increased dramatically, so you’ll have no trouble finding a cab to take you into the city. The best way to get around Luanda is by car. If you would rather not rely on taxis, you can hire a car at the airport from Alamo, Avis, Hertz, Sixt and Europcar.
