I went there on 2011, the beach was peaceful and quiet. I could lie on the shore for hours without anyone else bothering. I sure hope it stays that way because it wouldn't be the same with other tourists walking around. There were stairs to the top of a hill (if I remember correctly), so we could climb up and see the beach from above (or, from where I took this picture).
Another white sand beach in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, but there is nice one, come and enjoy the beach.
Pantai Drini is one of the many beaches on the south coast of Gunungkidul, which is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Compared to other beaches in the region, which are mostly white sand only, Drini Beach has a slightly different character, with small coral islands not far from the beach. This is ideal for snorkelling and diving, and other water sports are available right on the beach. From the Pantai Drini you can also reach several other beaches in the area, such as Sundak, Krakal and Kukup Beach, which are a bit less crowded and quieter.
