One of the latest places in LA for spotting the rich and famous. The Terrace offers a nice view of the Los Angeles Basin, expensive snacks and drinks and excellent service.

Truman Capote once-described this Hollywood landmark where Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Howard Hughes once-lived (and played) as “where every scandal that ever happened happened.” A multi-million dollar rejuvenation in 2005 gave the historic Art Deco building new life for a TMZ generation of rich and famous. Now, resting somewhere in-between the pretentiousness of the Chateau Marmont and the party-hard Roosevelt, the boutique hotel (read: pricey, small rooms, A-list concierge services) along the Sunset Strip has always been a glamorous spot to see or be seen, especially at the industry hot spot, Tower Bar, where Maitre d' deluxe Dmitri Dmitrov, treats you like were George and Amal (Clooney), who could ACTUALLY be sitting next to you.

This is my favorite place to stay on the Sunset Strip. The staff is amazing, the Jr. Suites with balcony are my favorite room type, and the pool is an excellent place to relax and drinks some Tower Smash's. Dinner on-site is amazing, and the room service is equally impressive.

The argyle salon & spa is a blend of glamor, wellness and luxury that redefines the beauty ritual. Tucked away within one of Hollywoods most architectural landmarks, Argyle is an homage to an era of impeccable service and flawless style. This place is an experience...

Former home to Hollywood stars from Greta Garbo to John Wayne, this gorgeous art deco tower on the Sunset Strip offers an upscale experience with posh rooms and sleek dining. It's illustrious history has been toned down and reduced to a little pamphlet to appeal to guests looking for a more contemporary environment, reverting to original name of the property. When the St. James Club did the massive renovation in the 1980s, it was filled with period reproductions and a glorious entry. Now the lobby feels more like a subdued office. The sophisticated rooms are lovely with treats like an iPod dock and personal espresso maker -- but it's the panoramic views of Los Angeles that are the most magnificant. Public spaces from the snazzy restaurants to the lovely poolside Terrace dining are excellent. But the nods to art deco are all gone except for the structural elements like the elaborate brass staircase and building's beautiful facade. Now owned by hotelier Jeff Klein, it's lost the distinctive look of the era and replaced it with modern elegance, perhaps more suitable for some. Can't beat the happening location down the street from the hip Standard.

Great Hotel.
Great Art Deco Building.
Great Location.
The lobby area is nice and they do have a small outdoor pool and a lovely terrace restaurant. Once I entered the lobby I could not have felt more transported to "Old Hollywood". The guest room I was in was a bit small - but lovely and has nice extras, like an espresso maker and a iPhone/iPod docing station. The room was very clean and the view from the 12th floor was great. It's located in a great area in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. Close to some very good restaurants and great shopping.
The staff was also very nice, helpful and friendly.
